Designing
your desktops.... The primary design rules adopted for this site's wallpapers try and balance the differing requirements of both Mac and PC desktop areas, with common UI principles. The images are by and large not "screen fillers" but are part of a design that occupies the entire desktop area whilst accommodating standard icon placements that the user is likely to be employing. Apple computers (Mac
OS 7 through 9 and OSX) default by ordering icons, from the HD onwards,
down the right hand of the screen. PCs dress to the left. The Mac has
the Menu Bar at the top of the screen, the PC has the Task Bar at the
bottom. If anything, the aim has been to lean towards meeting these requirements with a slight bias to PC users (let's face it, there's so many more of you...) although Macolytes should find that the designs still work perfectly well.
